WEEK 18 RUNS FROM MONDAY, APRIL 29 TO SUNDAY, MAY 5.
NOTE 1: WEEK 18 is a 9 WEEK (1+8=9). This is the 6th week of a 7-week cycle in which all the Week Numbers are TEEN numbers, and are therefore KARMIC in nature, and entail major evolutionary lessons. This 7-week cycle occurs each year, and usually involves teenagers in a significant way. And sure enough, we are witnessing an unnecessary assault on unarmed teens, of different ethnicities, faiths, and backgrounds, who are peacefully protesting Israel’s brutality in Gaza, at colleges throughout the USA – by armed and heavy-handed police. The timing of this is notable.
WEEK 18 is a 9 WEEK, and 9 takes us back to the past – so we can learn from history and not repeat old mistakes. On that note, 54 years ago, on May 4th, in the 18th week of 1970, at KENT STATE UNIVERSITY, the National Guard penetrated a student protest which opposed the expansion of the Vietnam War into Cambodia. They were also protesting the presence of the National Guard on campus, and the compulsory draft into military service. It took just 13 seconds for the National Guard to kill 4 unarmed teens and severely injure 9 more.
1970 was an 8 YEAR. And here we are now in 2024 – another 8 YEAR – the number of POWER in all its forms. This includes the generational POWER OF YOUNG PEOPLE and their natural urge to protest injustices and atrocities. It also includes how easy it is for those with “power” to disempower them, and even kill them.
May 4 in an 8 YEAR is also an 8 DAY (5+4+8=17=8). The 17 is significant because the 2024 protests began in WEEK 17, on APRIL 17, at New York’s Columbia University. It spread to universities all over the USA, and then around the world: Germany, France, Egypt, Australia, and the U.K., to name a few. Meanwhile, more than 600,000 Palestinian students have no access to an education at all, since all 12 of its universities have been completely destroyed, along with 56 schools.
Of course, you do not have to be in college or even in school to possess emotional and mental intelligence. It is natural for teenagers to seek fundamental change to what they know is wrong with the system. However, when the time comes to get a job and make their way in the big world, their idealism is often dealt a blow and they have to settle down. But this may not be the case with many of the young people born into the very “different” and sensitive energy of the 2000s.
The proposed U.S. ban on the social media outlet, TikTok, may have less to do with China than it does with the effects of FREE SPEECH and open EXPRESSION (which are the very basis of FREE WILL). There is more Palestinian coverage on TikTok than any other forum (and all the other atrocities around the world, too). A recent Teen Vogue article entitled, “TikTok Ban Would Restrict Access to News, Advocacy, Young People Say..” is most informative. With so much political maneuvering going on globally, this quote is particularly relevant,… “Politicians are really just scared that they can’t control the narrative anymore.”
When people are incapable of accepting responsibility, empathizing, or feeling remorse for wrongdoing, that is denied guilt, which is running rampant in the world. There is nothing more dangerous than denied guilt because it has no moral restraints to prevent it from doing whatever it wants. The age of the bully is reaching a crescendo.
When selfishness (1) and greed (8) combine, they can squeeze LOVE right out of a situation so that hate and violence are all that’s left. Even the most obvious truths are denied, and even the most intelligent people can be fooled (and intimidated) by the loudest or most persistent voices. Unbalanced 18/9 focuses on power and position, to shield itself from its biggest fear – losing power and position.
1 represents the ego (sense of self), and when the ego is balanced, genuine confidence replaces the need to dominate. When 8 truly appreciates what it already has, satisfaction and contentment replace greed and bullying.
The battle between the war-driven past – and a peaceful future – is happening right now in the present. The difference between democracy and authoritarianism is the difference between having Free Will, and having no Will of your own, whatsoever.
“Don’t it always seem to go, that you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone”, sang Joni Mitchell in her iconic song, “Big Yellow Taxi”, back in the 8 Year of 1970. We need to take her words seriously in 2024, especially when it comes to personal freedom.
If we do not learn from the past, we become stuck there until we do. That’s karma. And the old powers are doing everything they can to erase history, and destroy any outlets which could uncover the truth about how the old system works, and who actually controls it.
And, because 1 and 8 are such physical numbers, they remind us just how catastrophic environmental matters have become, and how human beings cannot seem to grasp the severity of this self-destructive disconnect between ourselves and the natural world. To re-connect, we must accept that we are not separate from Mother Nature, but are simply a part of her – and LEARN how to interact with her in a mutually sustaining way.
NOTE 2: Your weekly forecast repeats as a daily forecast on SATURDAY MAY 4. This repetition occurs when the month and day add up to 9. (5+4=9). 9 represents endings, completion, deep emotions, compassion, and letting go in order to move forward. Feelings intensify on these dates, and because this particular one is occurring in a 9 WEEK, and because when you add 2024 to May 4, you get another 8, its influence is stronger than usual. Remember to re-read your weekly forecast on Saturday.
