It is natural to be afraid of what we don’t understand. But we really do have to reach a better understanding of the power and purpose of fear instead of vilifying this natural emotion. Fear is the basis of our survival instinct. Without it, we could not survive because we would lack a sense of danger. Without it, we’d be walking off clifftops or into burning buildings – or ignoring what Mother Earth is clearly communicating to us.
But you might say, that’s just a matter of common-sense. Yes, it is. And that’s precisely how common-sense forms – by knowing what we need to fear, what we need to observe with caution, and what we need not fear at all. We have been programmed to be afraid to be afraid – which is truly frightening!
Fear has countless variations, many of which are irrational and unfounded. But many are real and require attention and specific action. By better understanding and strengthening our individual and collective Will, (our emotional center), we increase our intelligence; we raise our awareness.
